Due to a medical emergency on board, a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Bengaluru was diverted to Istanbul, where passengers, including elderly and young children, have now been trapped for more than 24 hours with "no support from the airlines."

In a statement, Lufthansa acknowledged the detour and said that it had taken longer than anticipated to replace the used oxygen cylinders that had been used during the emergency.

Over 24 hours have passed with passengers still delayed in Istanbul Airport. On Thursday morning, they're anticipated to arrive at their destination. Stranded travellers in Istanbul voice their worries.

Mothers travelling alone with little children and elderly couples unable to move or communicate in English or Kannada are also common.

For 31 hours, all of the travellers have been stranded in Istanbul Airport.Kej criticised the airlines for failing to offer lodgings to the travellers. He expressed shock that the airlines treated Indian passengers as an afterthought.

According to sources, the flight is scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru early on Thursday. Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. (local time), the flight departed from Germany. By 1.25 am the following morning, Bengaluru was supposed to receive it. However, while the aircraft was in Turkish territory and travelling over the Black Sea, a medical issue happened. At roughly 2:00 pm, it made an emergency landing at Istanbul Airport (local time).

 

After the detour, the airlines published a statement. "Before restarting the flight, the oxygen cylinders that were used to treat the medical emergency must be changed for safety reasons. Sadly, it took longer than anticipated to complete this "According to Luftansa's statement, as reported by TOI. The departure time was then set to 8 p.m. (local time)
