New President of India Droupadi Murmu
Droupadi Murmu, an Indian politician born on June 20, 1958, has been the country's 15th president since July 25, 2022. She is a Bharatiya Janata Party supporter (BJP). She is the first member of the tribal people to be chosen as India's president.
Even though Droupadi Murmu easily won the presidential election, her arduous journey to Rashtrapati Bhavan is a motivational tale of overcoming adversity and personal obstacles. After serving as a legislator and minister in Odisha, her political career took off, but soon after, she had personal traumas when she lost her husband and both of her boys. She gained notoriety during her tenure as governor of Jharkhand, particularly after she vetoed two measures that the Raghubar Das administration had approved modifying tenancy laws, raising concerns over the alienation of tribal territories.
