Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Amrita Hospital in Faridabad on Wednesday, which is being built at a cost of around Rs 6,000 crore and aims to increase the availability of modern medical infrastructure in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Following the model of Amrita Hospital in Kochi, the Faridabad hospital has made arrangements to provide free or low-cost emergency treatment to economically disadvantaged patients, according to hospital management.

The super-specialty hospital, managed by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, will have 2,600 beds, 534 of which are ICU. The hospital would soon have 81 specialty departments, 64 state-of-the-art operating rooms, and 10 precision-medicine oncology bunkers. It will eventually be powered by solar panels. The total built-up area exceeds 75 lakh square feet.

The hospital campus, which spans 130 acres, has been dubbed one of India's largest green-building healthcare projects, with a low carbon footprint and zero wastewater discharge. Amrita Hospital, Faridabad will serve not only the people of Faridabad and the state of Haryana, but also the entire population of Delhi-NCR and the neighbouring states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan, as well as other states in North and North-East India.

Because it is a non-profit organisation, it is expected to reduce healthcare costs in the region. The hospital is also focusing heavily on mother-and-child care. A multidisciplinary children's hospital with maternal, reproductive, and foetal medicine as well as all paediatric subspecialties such as paediatric cardiology, heart surgery and transplantation, rheumatology, endocrinology, pulmonology, neurosciences, paediatric genetics, gastroenterology, paediatric orthopaedics, and paediatric and foetal surgery will be included.

The new Amrita Hospitals facility in Faridabad will open this month, with Prime Minister Modi inaugurating it.

"The hospital will have a dedicated research block spread across a seven-story building with exclusive Grade A to D GMP labs." A focus will be placed on identifying newer diagnostic markers, as well as AI, ML, and bioinformatics. During a press conference on Friday, Dr. Sanjeev K Singh, Resident Medical Director of Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, said, "We are in the process of entering into research collaborations with some of the world's biggest names in medical science." Dr. Singh also stated that cutting-edge medical research will be a major focus of this new campus. The hospital group's main campus in Kochi pioneered surgeries such as India's first two double hand transplants and the country's first upper-arm double hand transplant, among other things. The administration insisted that the same "legacy" would be carried over to Amrita Hospital in Faridabad.

The new hospital of the Amrita group will be located in Faridabad Sector - 88 and will have a total built-up area of one crore sq. ft. with a 14-floor tower that will encompass the key medical facilities and patient areas.

Oncology, cardiac sciences, neurosciences, gastro-sciences, renal sciences, bone diseases and trauma, transplants, and mother and child care will be among the 81 specialties and eight Centres of Excellence housed there. According to hospital management, the hospital will also have India's largest facility to combat infectious diseases.

Furthermore, Dr. Singh stated that the hospital will take a multidisciplinary approach to improving patient care and treatment.
